This is no Joking Matter.

May 19, 2007 , Singapore Changi International Airport

A 39 years old woman threatened the air stewardess when she boarded the plane; she told the stewardess that she carried dangerous items with her. The air crews alerted the airport security and detained the woman for further investigation.

Her action had delayed the flight for two and a half hours as the airport authority had to unload all the luggage for security checking in order to ensure the safety of the passenger. It was discovered that it was a hoax.

The airport authority has warned all passengers that never joke with words like “bomb” or “carrying dangerous items” as the penalty if such “joke” is a fine of up to S$100,000 or 5 years imprisonment.

On the seven months, there were two counts of such jokes and the person involved was brought to court. In March this year a 38 years old executive said that he had “bomb” in his sling bag and was charged by the court. It was discovered that the man was suffered from Attention dysfunction syndrome and that had affect his judgment and did not really known what he was saying. He was then sentenced to 200 hours of community labor under parole.

In November last year Australian was fined for S$10,000 for asking the air stewardess where she hide the “bomb”, when he transit Changi Airport. About two months ago, a woman told her daughter that the security check her boots because they wanted to make sure that she did not hide any “bomb”. Her conversation was overheard by the security and they were detained for investigation and unable to board the plane.

A silly teasing got him into trouble.

On the local news, 19/5/2007, Kuching International Airport, A young salesman was carrying expensive ball bearing parts for vehicle into the plane. He had cleared security checking, however, when he boarded the plane, an air stewardess asked him what was he carrying, he teased the air stewardess that the box he carried is “bomb” inside. His joke had panicked the air crews, even though he later explained that he was joking, the air crews informed the security and the 20+ years young man was detained and locked in the cell by the police.

His reckless tease had resulted in the flight delay and also caused his colleague to be interrogated by the police for further investigation, the young man was later release under bond.

The Airport authority and the police had warned all passengers Never Joke with such sensitive wordings and it may result in fine or imprisonment. Some jokes are simple not funny at all but there are still some hard core “joker” wanted to show their sense of humor and caused unnecessary problems for others. Think before your joke while you were in the plane.

Now this is a real Joke but it shows at this time of tense situation, any thing that resemble sensitive wording can get you into trouble.

A man was sitting on his seat and suddenly his noticed that this good friend was sitting a few row in front of him, and he raise his voice and called his friend, “Hi, Jack!” Result, he was detained by the airport authority for attempting to “Hi-Jack” the plane. So never called your friend if his name is Jack in the plane.
